Shawnee Hill has been involved in the arts since childhood, beginning with growing up in the Finger Lakes around her grandmother’s porcelain doll business and sculpture studio. It was the beginning of her interest in drawing figures and portraits. After Graduating from Pratt Institute in 2008 she spent time in California and eventually came back to Rochester to work. In 2012 she connected with The Yards Collaborative Art Space, where she began to refocus on drawing and painting again. Since then she has created a body of work that has progressed in the development of theme and style with each new piece. Currently she is continuing her work with The Yards and her venture into exhibiting her work around Rochester and beyond.
